Biofeedback Therapy

Biofeedback therapy uses sensors to monitor involuntary body functions, such as heart rate, muscle tension, and brainwaves, and provides real-time visual or auditory feedback to help individuals learn to control these processes to improve health, reduce pain, and manage stress. During a session, electrodes are placed on the body to detect physiological changes, which are then displayed on a monitor. Through practiced use of relaxation techniques and other strategies, patients can learn to alter these signals, gaining self-regulation over the functions to alleviate symptoms associated with conditions like chronic pain, anxiety, and high blood pressure.
